Well, we hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas and New Year celebrations. We had a lovely time: a nice relaxed Christmas with lots of you popping in for drinks on Christmas Day, and a raucous New Year’s Eve thanks to a huge crowd of revellers and the fantastic Groove Merchants. A truly great night, to round off our first full calendar year as the Geese & Fountain.
We’re starting 2017 with our quiz tonight (Monday, Jan 2nd), and we’re open all this week as normal. Sunday (Jan 8th) sees the return of our regular monthly Acoustic Club, and we will also be having a JANUARY SALE ON BEER – all real ales this Sunday from 6pm will be just £2.00 per pint.
However, next week THE GEESE AND FOUNTAIN WILL BE CLOSED. The doors will be locked from the 9th to the 17th of January, as we (and the staff) will be getting some well-earned rest, and also doing a few jobs around the place to get us prepared for what we hope will be an even busier year than last year.
We will re-open on Wednesday, January 18th, with a bang! Well, with a beer festival. Yes, the third G&F Beer Festival, our Festival of Scottish Beers, will take place from the 18th to the 28th January, including a Burns Night Supper on Wednesday, January 25th. There’ll be a dozen ales, lagers and even a couple of ciders from some of our favourite Scottish breweries, and there’ll be some Scottish themed bar snacks available. No, not porridge.
We’ll also be promoting “Try-anuary” – spending January trying new beers, drinks you’ve never tasted or beer styles you thought you wouldn’t like. It’s much more fun than “Dry-anuary”!
Thanks for all your support during 2016, and we hope to see you at something this month.
