Take away pizza available six nights a week

Croxton Kerrial might not be the kind of place you’d expect to have a pizzeria. But The Geese and Fountain, the village pub in Croxton Kerrial, offers take away pizza every night of the week except Sundays.

Pizzas are offered on the Geese and Fountain bar menu – including ‘design-your-own’ unlimited toppings from a long list of traditional favourites like roasted red pepper, anchovies, olives, ham, bacon andartichokes.

Pop down to the pub, order a pizza to go, and have a pint while you wait for it to be cooked to perfection!

FREE BEER for Father’s Day

Bring Father, Dad, Grandad, Pop, Pa, or indeed any other fatherly-inclined gentleman with you for Sunday lunch on Father’s Day and we’ll treat them to a pint (or a soft drink if they’d prefer) and a free dessert.

Booking is strongly advised to avoid disappointing father.

Cycling Routes

There’s some fantastic cycling around us – just to the north is the Vale of Belvoir, with lovely long, flat routes (but you’ve got to get down into the Vale first, and that means climbing back up at the end). To the south of us is the rolling countryside of east Leicestershire and Rutland, with Rutland Water, and the delightful town of Oakham very close by. To the east, beyond Grantham the Lincolnshire countryside opens up for the long distance cyclist, and to the west, if you want a ride into town, there are good routes into both Leicester and Nottingham. Leicester, in particular, now welcomes cyclists and has lots of good infrastructure that make it a pleasure to ride to – and around.

Some recommended routes we like to ride:

Bingham – via the Vale of Belvoir. 42.5km, 400m climbing (mostly towards the end).
Bingham has some lovely places for a reviving cup of coffee and a slice of cake. Or even a beer, if you can’t wait until you get back to the Geese and Fountain.

Two Windmills – gently rolling countryside in east Leicestershire and Rutland. 44.2km, 373m climbing.
The first windmill has a bike shop and a tearoom. The second windmill is a fully working mill. Definitely worth seeing.

Round Rutland Water – with an optional stop in Oakham for the Grainstore Brewery. 72.2km, 508m of climbing.
Bird watching, water sports, great scenery and lovely pubs and cafes. Rutland Water, and the surrounding villages, have it all.
