Christmas is coming, the geese are getting fat…

Kate, Nick, Ollie and all the team are very excited to announce the December / Christmas menus for the first ever Christmas at the Geese and Fountain. These will be available throughout December 2015 as follows.

Winter party menu – £22.95 per person

A three course selection of dishes that evoke Christmas in all your senses – from parsnip and apple soup, roast turkey breast or chestnut, mushroom and shallot tart, to the home-made (of course) Christmas pudding or poached pears served with quince, and sloe gin ice cream. Available to pre-booked parties of 6 or more, for lunch times and evenings on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Christmas a la carte menu

Gerald Botterill’s Croxton Kerrial free range geese make their first appearance on a G&F menu, along with butternut squash risotto, roast turkey leg with pigs in blankets, sea bream and root vegetable tagliatelle, Redhill Farm ribeye pork steak, Christmas pudding, poached pears and tarte tatin served with Al’s Apple and Cider ice cream. Three courses plus petit fours and cheese if desired. Available lunch times and evenings on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Reservations are recommended but may not always be necessary.

Yuletide gourmand menu

We are delighted to offer a seven course menu featuring all the highlights of a traditional Christmas with some special Croxton Kerrial additions. Every course from the amuse bouche to the petit fours brings a contrasting taste to the table, with every detail home made and chosen to enhance the experience of enjoying great food in a relaxed and friendly environment. The gourmand menu is available evenings only on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays throughout December, at £42 per person for seven courses, or £65 per person to include specially selected wine or beer pairings for each course. This gives a rare chance to sample some of our wines not normally available by the glass, or to enjoy some of the speciality beers you may not be familiar with. Reservations are recommended but may not always be necessary.

 Sunday lunches

Our traditional Sunday lunch menu will continue throughout the month, with a choice of roasts including a vegetarian option served midday until 3pm every Sunday. Reservations are recommended but may not always be necessary.

Monday and Tuesday light lunches

Our light lunch menu, including sandwiches, soup and ploughman’s, will continue to be offered on Monday and Tuesday lunchtimes, so if you’re looking for a lighter bite, we will be happy to see you then.

Tuesday night is curry night

Our very popular curry nights will continue through December, with guest chef Clive Rudkin. £8.95 per person for chicken or vegetarian curry, lentil dhal, rice, naan, poppadum, onion bhaji and pickles.

Introducing… Monday night pizza!

As we will not be able to offer pizza during our Christmas menu period, we are launching a special ‘pizza night’ every Monday during December. Eat in or take away, with an expanded range of pizzas, including a ‘design your own’ option.

Bar snacks

And finally, our bar snacks menu will be up on the blackboard on Sunday evenings. Just the thing if you’ve been over-indulging all weekend!

After a short wait we can now offer take away on our range of pizzas, breakfast cobs and teas and coffees.

Pizzas are available from 6pm until 9.30pm, Wednesday through to Saturday nights. The range currently includes:

Marina – tomato, capers and garlic oil (vegan)
Margherita – tomato and mozzarella
Napoletana – anchovies and olives, tomato and mozzarella
Pepe Rosso – Belvoir Ridge Colwick cheese and roasted red pepper, tomato and mozzarella
Rosmarino – salami and rosemary, tomato and mozzarella

Breakfast cobs ( egg, bacon, sausage or any combination of the three) are available from 7.30am until 9.00am every day. The cobs are baked by the Haven Bakery in Scalford using yeast from the Belvoir Brewery, who also supply some of our beer.

And tea, coffee and hot chocolate are available all day, every day. We serve espresso, Americano, Latte and Cappucino, along with English Breakfast tea, Earl Grey, Red Berry, Peppermint, and Green Tea. Our hot chocolate is made with Belvoir Ridge full cream milk. And it’s delicious.
